Ski flight specialist Snowjet has confirmed it is to offer direct flights from Stansted to Sion Airport in the popular Swiss Valais Region for the 2009/10 season.
The flights will be the only scheduled services from the UK to the exclusive and efficient Alpine airport.
Flying direct to Sion is the fastest route to some of Switzerland’s top ski resorts, including Zermatt, Verbier, Saas Fee, Crans Montana, Nendaz and Veysonnaz.
“Passengers will benefit from terrific time-saving advantages by flying direct to Sion,” said Snowjet’s managing director David Lacy.
“Verbier, for example, is just 35 to 40 minutes away from Sion, compared with two and a half hours from Geneva.
“In addition, Sion handles a low volume of passengers, which means skiers won’t have a long wait at baggage reclaim or at check-in, enabling them to spend longer on the slopes. We are also delighted to have secured very civilized flight times, ensuring our passengers can enjoy their winter break to the full.”
The flights will operate twice-weekly every Saturday and Sunday from December 19th 2009 through to April 18th 2010, departing London Stansted at 10:00, arriving Sion at 13:00.
From Sion departures are at 14:00, arriving London Stansted at 15:00 (local times).
The exclusive flights are bookable now at Snowjet from just £49 one way, including all taxes and a free 20kg baggage allowance.
