The Reach out and Touch it campaign will run between November 15th and 29th
Switzerland Tourism has launched a new tourism campaign this November to celebrate the wonders of winter in Switzerland.
Between November 15th and 29th, five giant blocks of ice will be placed in high-profile locations around London, enabling the public to reach out and touch a piece of Switzerland.
Each block of ice will represent one of the five ski regions of Switzerland: The Alps of Lake Geneva, Graubünden, Valais, Engelberg – Central Switzerland and Bernese Oberland.
Objects representing the region will be frozen into each block of ice, surrounded by 75 Swiss flag cards, each printed with a unique code.
The block will be an interactive installation, inviting the public to physically connect with the ice and listen to the sounds of Switzerland travelling through the ice, all whilst learning about some of the finest skiing destinations in the world.
If members of the public manage to free one of the Swiss flag cards by melting the ice around it, they will win a fantastic prize such as chocolate, skiing equipment, flights with Swiss International Air Lines or even an amazing winter holiday to that region.
On hand at each ice cube ‘drop’ will be instructors from the Swiss Ski and Snowboard School who, as well as answering any questions about the winter in Switzerland, will be handing out information packs which each includes a unique code and when entered at MySwitzerland.com/winter2012, could win one of 1000s of prizes.
The locations include Canary Wharf, Liverpool Street, Shepherd’s Bush, St Pancras International and the Southbank Centre. For more information visit MySwitzerland.com/winter2012.
